EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques) is used by an estimated 10 million people worldwide. Yet a lack of standardization has led to a field in which dozens of forms of EFT, with varying degrees of fidelity to the original, can be found. This led to the establishment of Clinical EFT, the form of EFT taught in the original EFT Manual and associated materials, and validated in over 20 clinical trials. In this volume, the most noted scholars, researchers and clinicians in the field compile a definitive outline of the EFT protocol, as it is applied in medicine, psychiatry, psychotherapy, and life coaching. Chapters cover the clinical application of EFT to fields such as addiction treatment, sports, surgery, weight loss, social problems, and family therapy. Scientists explain the physiological mechanisms of action of EFT, as well as its sources in physics and chemistry. Researchers describe EFTs path to acceptance as an "evidence-based" practice. This handbook is essential reading for anyone wishing to understand EFT as validated in research, science, and best clinical practice.

The influence of the preconception and prenatal period on child development and parent-child relationships. This book presents recent knowledge, research, and theory about the earliest developmental period—from conception to birth—which holds even greater consequences for the health and development of the human organism than was previously understood. Theory and research in multiple disciplines provide the foundation for the exploration of how experiences during conception and time in the womb; during and after birth; and experiences with caregivers and the family system in the early postnatal period impact an individual physically, cognitively, emotionally, and socially over their life span. Knowledge drawn from numerous fields highlights the opportunity for parents-to-be and the practitioners who care for them to intentionally support the cultivation of nurturing internal and external environments during the preconception, prenatal, and early parenting periods. Theory and research from the fields of psychology, medicine, psychophysiology, epigenetics, and traumatology, among others, suggest that doing so will support lifelong multidimensional aspects of healthy development in children and adults and may also benefit future generations.

The New York Times «Μια απίστευτη σάτιρα για τη φυλετική ταυτότητα στην Αμερική... A revolution began in my professional career and education in 1997. In that year, I visited the University of Minnesota to discuss collaborative opportunities in cardiac anatomy, physiology, and medical device testing. The meeting was with a faculty member of the Department of Anesthesiology, Professor Paul Iaizzo. I didn’t know what to expect but, as always, I remained open minded and optimistic. Little did I know that my life would never be the same. . . . During the mid to late 1990s, Paul Iaizzo and his team were performing anesthesia research on isolated guinea pig hearts. We found the work appealing, but it was unclear how this research might apply to our interest in tools to aid in the design of implantable devices for the cardiovascular system. As discussions progressed, we noted that we would be far more interested in reanimation of large mammalian hearts, in particular, human hearts. Paul was confident this could be accomplished on large hearts, but thought that it would be unlikely that we would ever have access to human hearts for this application. We shook hands and the collaboration was born in 1997. In the same year, Paul and the research team at the University of Minnesota (including Bill Gallagher and Charles Soule) reanimated several swine hearts. Unlike the previous work on guinea pig hearts which were reanimated in Langendorff mode, the intention of this research was to produce a fully functional working heart model for device testing and cardiac research.

"This volume is everthing one would want from a one-volume handbook of social psychology or, indeed, of any scientific discipline. Comprehensive in scope, authoritative, clearly written, and detailed, it covers not only the usual topics one would expect in such a survey--history, methodology, social cognition, emotions, interpersonal relations and relationships, and group processes, both positive and negative--but also those especially relevant to social psychology as it enters its second century. The volume is edited by two of the most prominent social psychologists in their own right, and the list of contributors is a veritable who's who of the discipline but also includes a number of younger and non-US-based scholars. Essential. No library should be without this book." --CHOICE This is a comprehensive, scholarly, up-to-date survey of the field of social psychology for the new millennium - a single volume Handbook containing 23 chapters by leading researchers from around the world. It is a state of the art text with an eye to the future, in which rich integrative chapters are thorough analytic reviews. The chapters fall into 5 sections that reflect the scope of social psychology as a global scientific endeavour - history and nature of social psychology, individual processes, interpersonal processes, processes within groups, and intergroup processes and society. The book is edited by Michael Hogg and Joel Cooper, with Dominic Abrams, Elliot Aronson, and Shelley Taylor acting as advisory editors. The main featu
