She sacrificed all other priorities and relationships along the way, throwing work-life balance to the wind. The story reveals the subtleties of the everyday decisions that led collectively to a work-centric existence over a twenty-year career. Set against the backdrop of the dramatic circumstances at Lehman Brothers in 2008, Erin discloses her own struggle as events spiraled out of control. Ultimately, her resignation from her executive role prior to the Lehman bankruptcy resulted in a devastating personal crisis as her career crumbled revealing little to no foundation beneath it. We learn of the journey back to change her life with a semblance of present day peace and happiness. Full Circle provides a unique inside and emotional perspective of the sacrifices Erin made to achieve extreme career success and the self-awareness required to return to being the fundamentally grounded person she was as a child.

Glamour, excitement, and money were thrust upon Miami in the late 1970s. Seemingly overnight, it transformed from a sleepy Southern town famous only for its retirees, to an exciting mix of wealth, style, and violence. It was the Cocaine Era, when mountains of cash, bricks of coke, and men with assault rifles changed everything. And it changed the people living there, as well. Kevin Pedersen and Alex DeCubas, a couple of local boys who met at a Little League game, became best friends and star high school wrestling teammates. They were even featured in Sports Illustrated. Alex, who was so big and powerful that he wasn't allowed to play football with the other kids, was on his way to bigger things, possibly the Olympics, when a series of tragedies derailed his dreams. Instead, he used his natural strength and ferocity to start robbing drug dealers and selling what he took. Before long, he caught the eyes of the Colombians and became the biggest home-grown cocaine dealer in the United States. Kevin, half Alex's size, became a wrestling champion through self-discipline, hard work, and drive. After graduating from West Point, he saw his family life deteriorate because of drugs. After divorcing his coke-addicted wife, he came close to suicide until his mind changed. He realized America's enemy wasn't Iran or Russia or any other country, it was drugs. He went to work for the DEA, and on his first day, Kevin found out that his old friend, Alex, was their primary target. And, years later, after the pair faced conflict, personal turmoil, and (for Alex) a long prison sentence, the pair reunited and teamed up to do what they perhaps always should have--coaching high school wrestling together. Full Circle is the remarkable true story of two best friends, their relationship torn apart by the "War on Drugs" as each was put into opposite sides of the conflict.

From 2003 through 2010, more than 200,000 men and women were deployed in Iraq. For seven years, they fought ferociously in the blistering sands in the Land Between the Two Rivers. Some fought for pride or survival, some to bring democracy to a forsaken land that has known only tyranny and strife. Scores of books have been published about the war, most criticizing the strategies and execution. Some have been personal memoirs capturing the heroism and sacrifice. Here U.S. Army LTC Darron Wright, a proven combat leader, joins forces with author Mike Walling to lift the veil on the Iraq War, revealing the build-up of troops; the equipping, training, and planning; the capture of Saddam Hussein; the formation of the new Government; and the last patrol. Through vivid stories and military documents, this provides readers with a first-hand of the full conflict.

In this second edition of Coming Full Circle: The Process of Decolonization Among Post-1965 Filipino Americans, Professor EJR David writes a new FOREWORD and the author has a NEW INTRODUCTION. Coming Full Circle is about the healing of the Filipino colonized psyche through the recovery and re-imagination of Filipino identity and culture. It is about the emergence from the 'culture of silence' to critical consciousness that is able to develop new conceptualizations and frameworks about the Filipino American experience. Decolonization is a psychological process that enables the colonized to understand and overcome the depths of alienation and marginalization caused by the psychic and epistemic violence of colonization. Decolonization transforms the consciousness of the colonized through the reclamation of the Filipino cultural self and makes space for the recovery and healing of traumatic memory, and healing leading to different forms of activism. It is an open-ended process. It is a new way of seeing. As a way of healing, it is also a promise and a hope.

Tempered by the war and devastated by the loss of his best friend sent to a concentration camp by the town SS commander, young Jan Neuman finds himself fleeing his country when the government is deposed in a communist coup. A myopic world too preoccupied with the euphoria of victory over the Nazis and the darkening cloud of the Cold War to see the plight of the displaced soon puts him to the test. In the ruins of Germany, sewers of Paris, refugee camps of Italy, and ultimately America, he comes to realize that freedom can exact a terrible price. He plumbs the highs and lows of guilt, betrayal, loneliness, romance, love, despair, and vengeance. Ultimately, in a chance meeting and confrontation with his old nemesis, the former SS commander, now in the service of his adopted country, he realizes that because of his steadfast adherence to principles, he has become an anachronism, suspended in a world that has passed him by. The Cold War ends. He answers the yearning in his heart and returns to the place of his birth, only to find himself cast adrift--a foreigner in his own country and stranger in his own home.

by Pauline Pearce ISBN 13: 978 1 84747 014 0 Published: 2006 Pages: 115 Description Full Circle is a remarkable tale about a woman with dystonia. About the Author Pauline Pearce is a leading campaigner in raising awareness of people who live with dystonia. Full Circle is a very open and heart rendering account. Book Extract " Why do I feel so sad? I have so much to be thankful for - a good husband; a beautiful, yet temperamental, teenage daughter; a "nice" home, in a "nice" rural Cheshire village and (plus I do stress this) I am sitting in the hot sunshine on a veranda overlooking the Amalfi coastline, one of the most scenic views in, not only Italy but in the entire world. Then - why sad? Why are tears just a nano-second away? Why if I could just doze off in the heat, in the beauty of the surrounding never to re-awaken, why might that feel so good? I'm tired - not tired of life in general - that has potential, new experience, new adventure ahead. No, I'm tired of my life and the constant fight I feel everyday is becoming. I'm 45, yet sometimes I feel doubly this, as I strive not wanting to give in to the illness and pain, both physical & psychologically, that constantly exhausts me. Now would be a good time for an ending - in the warm sunshine, in these beautiful surroundings before life becomes more burdensome and my capabilities become more limited. Before my life shrinks any more. I've never quite understood why so often, on war memorials, mention is made to the sadness of young men cut off in their prime, yet - as a positive - their bodies never ageing. They'll be remembered at the age they met their maker - for the beauty oftheir youth; for the life potential they had, yet didn't fulfill; for the perfection of their fit, young bodies. I'm scared of death (even though a Christian) - the uncertainties, the finality but, perhaps more, the mode and shape of its advent. I've seen too many friends, near my own age, die recently. I've watched their gradual deterioration, their loss of dignity as illness stripped them of mobility and independence - bed pans, bed baths, loss of control of bowels and bladder; returning both in body and mind to infancy. That scares me. Yet, what of my future? Do I want to cling on to life by the tips of my fingernails, knowing I may endure this? Is this deterioration happening, as I pen this paper? I feel so. Life is different now. Little by little quality is ebbing away, no matter how hard I try to maintain normality as it once was. I'm living a fools paradise. I push myself, often beyond my limits, trying to prove this quality is still there. It's the uncertainty of my illness and, maybe, its progression that scares me. How far will it deteriorate? "
