This volume contains a collection of refereed articles on generalized convexity and generalized monotonicity. The first part of the book contains invited papers by leading experts (J.M. Borwein, R.E. Burkard, B.S. Mordukhovich and H. Tuy) with applications of (generalized) convexity to such diverse fields as algebraic dynamics of the Gamma function values, discrete optimization, Lipschitzian stability of parametric constraint systems, and monotonicity of functions. The second part contains contributions presenting the latest developments in generalized convexity and generalized monotonicity: its connections with discrete and with continuous optimization, multiobjective optimization, fractional programming, nonsmooth Aanalysis, variational inequalities, and its applications to concrete problems such as finding equilibrium prices in mathematical economics, or hydrothermal scheduling. The Secret War Against Sweden

Following the stranding of a Soviet Whiskey-class submarine in 1981 on the Swedish archipelago, a series of massive submarine intrusions took place within Swedish waters. However, the evidence for these appears to have been manipulated or simply invented. Classified documents and interviews point to covert Western, rather than Soviet activity. This is backed up by former US Secretary of Defense Caspar Weinberger, who stated that Western "testing" operations were carried out regularly in Swedish waters. Royal Navy submarine captains have also admitted to top-secret operations. Ola Tunander's revelations make it clear that the United States and Britain ran a "secret war" in Swedish waters. The number of Swedes perceiving the Soviet Union as a direct threat increased from 5-10 per cent in 1980 to 45 per cent in 1983. This Anglo-American "secret war" was aimed at exerting political influence over Sweden. It was a risky enterprise, but perhaps the most successful covert operation of the entire Cold War.

The Juice Lady’s Live Food Lifestyle builds on what Cherie Calbom’s recent book, The Juice Lady’s Turbo Juice Diet, started. Known around the country as “the Juice Lady,” nutrition expert Cherie Calbom explains the benefits of living foods (raw foods), based on new scientific research that shows that biophotons in plants carry light energy into our bodies, which helps our cells communicate with each other. Cooking food kills these biophotons and leaves the body craving the energy and nutrients it needs to function at a healthy, vibrant level. But you don’t have to switch your diet to a 100 percent raw foods diet. By simply adding more raw foods to your diet, you can increase your body’s intake of these beneficial nutrients. In addition to a 64-page, four-color recipe section, shopping lists, menu plans, and other practical advice, the author presents a living foods lifestyle plan for conquering adrenal fatigue (which some health organizations are calling “the new American epidemic”), busting candida (yeast infections), achieving weight loss, boosting your immune system, balancing your thyroid function, and more. Fight illness and slow the aging process in your body by starting the Juice Lady’s living foods lifestyle today!
