#SurviveTrump #ThriveAnyway Donald Trump got elected much to the surpriseand dismay of about 2/3 of the American People-but that is now history. What we need now is a planto get through a Trump presidency. There are ways-good ways-to not only cope with this reality, but toalso thrive in spite of it. Lemonade is made from lemons. With your owncreativity thrown in, as the sugar, we can crush thiscurrent reality and make something sweet andrefreshing. Dedicated to everyone who was surprised by the outcome of the 2016 US Presidential election. Like you, I was surprised and reasonably devastated by the election results of the 2016 Presidential election. I thought that the polls were right, that Hillary had it in the bag and the media only was reporting that Donald was 'close' as a ruse to keep us interested. I didn't think in a million years he'd be elected. But - I was wrong... I think there were two major things to blame, maybe more, but two big culprits here. One, we believed the polls. The Hillary supporters were lulled into a false sense of security. Maybe they didn't bother to go out and vote. Maybe not her 'supporters' per-se, because the people who were passionate about her becoming president surely did go out and vote, but others who would have preferred her over 'The Donald', but maybe weren't 'passionate' about it thought that it would be just fine and didn't vote. Two, I think that the Millenials were so disenfranchised after the mistreatment of Bernie Sanders that they chose to sit this one out. Again, all the Millenials I know voted, but if you look at the map of who they said they were going to vote for and consider the numbers they should have had in this election, Hillary should have won by a landslide. But the next generation of voters are a different breed. Once you piss them off or lose their trust, you don't get them back, not easily anyway. So I think they sat this one out because they were disillusioned by what happened just before the Democratic National convention and the controversy over how Bernie was treated. Those are just my theories. I know there are a million more, like the way news is reported through the political points of view. When I grew up, I didn't know or care what Walter Cronkite's political point of view was. We just trusted him to report the news without putting a spin on it. Maybe I was naive, but that is how I remember it. Nowadays, I instantly know the political view points of almost anyone I listen to because the ideologies are so polarized. Just to get this out of the way, I'm remaining anonymous in this book because of the other book I wrote about family dynamics and because I want to practice what I'm going to expound upon in this book and not be distracted by any type of personal attention this book might attract. I'm also not registered with either party. I'm an independent because I want to think for myself and not be labeled by some ideology that I may or may not agree with due to the ever-changing political landscape. It feels to me a bit like the altered future from "Back to the Future" where Biff got the sports results and got really rich and powerful. I am hoping that "Doc" aka Bernie, finds a way to fix everything and we wake up back on the original timeline with President Sanders about to take office. But alas... right now... we are on this timeline! I would also like to say that this book is intended for those people who did not vote for Trump, those shocked by the election result and those afraid of what it might mean for this country. If you voted for Trump, his win is not an endorsement of any bigoted position you may hold. There is no room for bigotry in this country. Our country was founded on and made strong because people came here from all over the map. I hope this helps!

How the world's leading innovators push their ideas to fruition again and again Edison famously said that genius is 1 percent inspiration, 99 percent perspiration. Ideas for new businesses, solutions to the world's problems, and artistic breakthroughs are common, but great execution is rare. According to Scott Belsky, the capacity to make ideas happen can be developed by anyone willing to develop their organizational habits and leadership capability. That's why he founded Behance, a company that helps creative people and teams across industries develop these skills. Belsky has spent six years studying the habits of creative people and teams that are especially productive-the ones who make their ideas happen time and time again. After interviewing hundreds of successful creatives, he has compiled their most powerful-and often counterintuitive-practices, such as: •Generate ideas in moderation and kill ideas liberally •Prioritize through nagging •Encourage fighting within your team While many of us obsess about discovering great new ideas, Belsky shows why it's better to develop the capacity to make ideas happen-a capacity that endures over time.

He is one of the most famous, most wealthy people on the planet, and yet he remains little-known and understood as a personality. At long last, Paul McCartney is the subject of a major, deeply researched, psychologically acute biography. It tells a story that will illuminate and surprise. The publication finds McCartney - who turns 70 in 2012 - revitalized as a performer (touring with a set of mostly Beatles songs) and a man buffeted by profound changes in recent years: the death of his first wife, Linda; the death of George Harrison; a second marriage, to Heather Mills, and its spectacular failure, the fall-out from which is still crashing around him. More recently, her husband made a fortune selling his tech business, and their adored son has been accepted to Princeton. Yet sometimes the middle-class small-town girl in Nina wonders if she’s strayed from the person she once was. Tom Volpe is a single dad working multiple jobs while struggling to raise his headstrong daughter, Lyla. His road has been lonely, long, and hard, but he finally starts to relax after Lyla earns a scholarship to Windsor Academy, Nashville’s most prestigious private school. Amid so much wealth and privilege, Lyla doesn’t always fit in—and her overprotective father doesn’t help—but in most ways, she’s a typical teenaged girl, happy and thriving. Then, one photograph, snapped in a drunken moment at a party, changes everything. As the image spreads like wildfire, the Windsor community is instantly polarized, buzzing with controversy and assigning blame. At the heart of the lies and scandal, Tom, Nina, and Lyla are forced together—all questioning their closest relationships, asking themselves who they really are, and searching for the courage to live a life of true meaning. Advance praise for All We Ever Wanted “Nina Browning has it all: the handsome husband, the Ivy-League-bound teenage son, and the big house in the Nashville suburbs. #1 NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER! From Obama's former communications director and current co-host of Pod Save America comes a colorful account of how politics, the media, and the Internet changed during the Obama presidency and how Democrats can fight back in the Trump era. On November 9th, 2016, Dan Pfeiffer woke up like most of the world wondering WTF just happened. How had Donald Trump won the White House? How was it that a decent and thoughtful president had been succeeded by a buffoonish reality star, and what do we do now? Instead of throwing away his phone and moving to another country (which were his first and second thoughts), Pfeiffer decided to tell this surreal story, recounting how Barack Obama navigated the insane political forces that created Trump, explaining why everyone got 2016 wrong, and offering a path for where Democrats go from here. Pfeiffer was one of Obama's first hires when he decided to run for president, and was at his side through two presidential campaigns and six years in the White House. Using never-before-heard stories and behind-the-scenes anecdotes, YES WE (STILL) CAN examines how Obama succeeded despite Twitter trolls, Fox News (and their fake news), and a Republican Party that lost its collective mind. An irreverent, no-BS take on the crazy politics of our time, YES WE (STILL) CAN is a must-read for everyone who is disturbed by Trump, misses Obama, and is marching, calling, and hoping for a better future for the country.

NOW A NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER NAMED A BEST/MOST ANTICIPATED BOOK OF 2018 BY: Chicago Tribune • Time A stunning follow up to New York Times bestseller Tears We Cannot Stop The Washington Post: "Passionately written." Chris Matthews, MSNBC: "A beautifully written book." Shaun King: “I kid you not–I think it’s the most important book I’ve read all year...” Harry Belafonte: “Dyson has finally written the book I always wanted to read. .a tour de force...a poetically written work that calls on all of us to get back in that room and to resolve the racial crises we confronted more than fifty years ago.” Joy-Ann Reid: A work of searing prose and seminal brilliance... Dyson takes that once in a lifetime conversation between black excellence and pain and the white heroic narrative, and drives it right into the heart of our current politics and culture, leaving the reader reeling and reckoning." Robin D. G. Kelley:“Dyson masterfully refracts our present racial conflagration through a subtle reading of one of the most consequential meetings about race to ever take place. In so doing, he reminds us that Black artists and intellectuals bear an awesome responsibility to speak truth to power." President Barack Obama: "Everybody who speaks after Michael Eric Dyson pales in comparison.” In 2015 BLM activist Julius Jones confronted Presidential candidate Hillary Clinton with an urgent query: “What in your heart has changed that’s going to change the direction of this country?” “I don’t believe you just change hearts,” she protested. “I believe you change laws.” The fraught conflict between conscience and politics – between morality and power – in addressing race hardly began with Clinton. An electrifying and traumatic encounter in the sixties crystallized these furious disputes. In 1963 Attorney General Robert Kennedy sought out James Baldwin to explain the rage that threatened to engulf black America. Baldwin brought along some friends, including playwright Lorraine Hansberry, psychologist Kenneth Clark, and a valiant activist, Jerome Smith. It was Smith’s relentless, unfiltered fury that set Kennedy on his heels, reducing him to sullen silence. Kennedy walked away from the nearly three-hour meeting angry – that the black folk assembled didn’t understand politics, and that they weren’t as easy to talk to as Martin Luther King. But especially that they were more interested in witness than policy. But Kennedy’s anger quickly gave way to empathy, especially for Smith. “I guess if I were in his shoes...I might feel differently about this country.” Kennedy set about changing policy – the meeting having transformed his thinking in fundamental ways. There was more: every big argument about race that persists to this day got a hearing in that room. Smith declaring that he’d never fight for his country given its racist tendencies, and Kennedy being appalled at such lack of patriotism, tracks the disdain for black dissent in our own time. His belief that black folk were ungrateful for the Kennedys’ efforts to make things better shows up in our day as the charge that black folk wallow in the politics of ingratitude and victimhood. The contributions of black queer folk to racial progress still cause a stir. BLM has been accused of harboring a covert queer agenda. The immigrant experience, like that of Kennedy – versus the racial experience of Baldwin – is a cudgel to excoriate black folk for lacking hustle and ingenuity. The questioning of whether folk who are interracially partnered can authentically communicate black interests persists. And we grapple still with the responsibility of black intellectuals and artists to bring about social change. What Truth Sounds Like exists at the tense intersection of the conflict between politics and prophecy – of whether we embrace political resolution or moral redemption to fix our fractured racial landscape. The future of race and democracy hang in the balance.
